Weird Austin

on

My sister just celebrated her Birthday and I decided to take her out of town for a good time. We were down in San Antonio on Friday and visited the Alamo and Riverwalk. Nice. The highlight of the day was going to the movies to see the Bourne Ultimatum on premiere night–I wasn’t disappointed. Each of the Bourne movies has delivered every time, but this was the first time I went to see a movie on premiere night.

We spent much of the day in Austin yesterday, seeing the sights, checking out the downtown nightlife. The weirdest people live in Austin! Keep Austin Weird isn’t just a slogan. All sorts of questionable characters were walking on Sixth Street–this is, of course, assuming that we weren’t counted among the weirdos. The highlight of the evening yesterday was seeing a really old lady (she could easily have been 80) dressed in a knee length black and white dress (easily her clubbing garb) walking the streets close to 10pm, looking for a suitable club in which to while the evening away. And she was walking with the assistance of a cane! Clubbing 80-year-old: how’s that for staying young at heart?

Yeah. They claim to be the live music capital of the world. They also claim to be weird–with this we agree!
