POW stands for for Post of the Week–my most interesting online read of the week.
Without a doubt, Chris Guillebeau is my most interesting read this week, even though the week isn’t quite over yet. With a website titled The Art of Non Conformity, how could he not be?
Chris’ post on Getting Excited and Changing Things has me all stirred up today. In pondering the questions he asks, I realize which way I want to go: What do you not like about the world? What is irritating? What is unfair? What are you excited about? How can you create some kind of change around that? Chris also has an earlier post–Starting with What You Have–that throws out some nifty ideas on how to get going.
Are you excited yet? Will you go ahead and start with what you have?

I’ve always enjoyed this quote by Frederick Buechner:
“The vocation for you is the one in which your deep gladness and the world’s deep need meet–something that not only makes you happy but that the world needs to have done.”
(I don’t agree with all of Buechner’s spiritual beliefs, but I believe that his quote is a good jumping-off point for someone who is exploring what their vocation might be.)

Corporate America can stifle creative juices. It is great when one can express a degree of daring improvisation., and step out! Slowly but surely those cultural trappings of corporate America evaporate…so nice to meet you.
